Micro chunks of enhancing habits.

Brad Dixon June 29, 2017

I work at a gym and I have a choice of a downstairs or upstairs toilet.  Michael Phelps philosophy on life and training is pretty simple - "always take the harder choice". The reasoning is if you take the hard road more often, those decisions will add up to make you better. Since reading Darin Olien's book "Superlife" I have been more diligent with my hydration, (keeping my cells hydrated affects my ability to function on multiple levels - memory, ability to recover etc) so I'm attempting to increase drinking water - I put some lemon in the water. Going to the toilet more often allowed me to take the stairs more (going upstairs as it's the harder choice) so I can alternate between a controlled jog or a double step SLOW lunge when I ascend the stairs 2- 5 x a day.

My point is that combining my improved hydration habit with my going upstairs is creating more opportunity to "micro chunk" train around my limited training time. What habits and choices can you add to your day that will enhance you? Can you take the "hard" road a little more often to make you better? Have a great week everyone - I'm off to do my weekly yoga class.
